Prevention - At our office we stress the need to prevent dental disease through regular care including exams, cleanings, and x-rays as needed.  At each cleaning appointment, we will also perform a medical information update, an oral cancer screening, and a thorough evaluation of your oral health. Resolving problems while they are small is paramount to maintaining long term dental health.
Restorations - When fillings are needed, our primary filling material is composite, a tooth colored material.  Besides esthetics, these materials have fluoride to help prevent future decay and have physical characteristics that allow us to keep the filling smaller and the drilling to a minimum.

Crowns - When a tooth is damaged so severely that a simple restoration will no longer protect the tooth or restore it to normal function, a crown (or cap) is needed.  Crowns cover the entire tooth surface above the gums.  They are made out of many materials, but most are made with porcelain to restore both esthetics and function.

Fixed Bridges -  Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth.  Crowns are placed on either side of the space where the tooth is missing and a new tooth set is in the space.

Root Canal Therapy - Root canal therapy is necessary when a nerve in a tooth is infected or irreversibly damaged.  The damaged tissue is removed and the canal, a tube in the center of the root, is cleaned out and filled with a sealing cement and rubbery material called gutta percha.  Root canals have a reputation for being very painful because of how they were done many years ago. Today, a root canal is usually no more uncomfortable than a filling.  Usually a crown is needed to restore the tooth to normal form and function.

Periodontal Therapy - When the conditions in the mouth lead to bone loss and inflamed gums, more thorough treatment may be indicated.  The first step is usually scaling and root planing, a procedure in which debris is removed from the teeth and the gum tissue around the teeth is allowed to heal.  The main purpose of periodontal therapy is to create a healthy oral condition the patient can keep clean on a daily basis.  Sometimes additional treatment is necessary and these therapies are tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

Cosmetics - If you're unhappy with the appearance of your smile, we can discuss esthetic options that may be available to you.  We offer a wide range of esthetic treatments including cosmetic bonding, tooth whitening, and porcelain veneers and crowns.  Ask Dr. Roiter what might be right for you.

Implants - Implants are metal "roots" placed in the bone by a surgeon.  After the implant  has attached to the bone, an abument (support structure) is attached to the implant and then the implant can be restored with a crown or a bridge. Often, implants can be used to stabilize or replace removable dentures creating a much healthier oral condition.
